Tennis coach
Patrick Mouratoglou is curious to see how will
Rafael Nadal perform at the
French Open as he acknowledged that the Spaniard won't have a perfect preparation for the second Grand Slam of the season.
Nadal sustained a stress fracture in one of his ribs in Indian Wells which left him sidelined for a month and a half as he was forced to skip the beginning of the clay season and events in Monte Carlo and Barcelona. Nadal usually plays four events before the French Open but this year he will arrive with only two tournaments played prior to Roland Garros.
Speaking to We Love Tennis, Mouratoglou said:
“Rafael Nadal is not going to play many matches, and it is
extremely rare that he arrives at Roland Garros with so few matches. So,
for Roland-Garros, there is a real unknown for him. Despite his
incredible start to the season, he is a player who has always needed to
play a lot (before Roland Garros). He will not reach the top."
Nadal recenly admitted that his rib still gives im pain but he will play through it in Madrid.
