As ever Daniil Medvedev was on top form with his on-court outbursts during his 7-6, 6-1 defeat to Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells on Sunday where he shouted that tennis is such a ..... sport during changeover at the opening tie-break which he went on to lose at Indian Wells.
At 3-2 up, Alcaraz won a close point where his shot was initially called long. It clipped the line with the Spaniard challenging. Displeased with the call going against him, it brought on one of Medvedev's famous one-liners to add to the ever growing list. Ever since his infamous US Open interview, he has carved a niche out in the tennis world for berating himself and the crowd while still endearing himself.
He left tennis fans in stitches with this latest one. "Honestly one of the funniest athletes in any sport right now," one wrote. "He's got a point, he's an icon, he's a legend, and he is the moment," another wrote.
"Daniil being ever quotable" and "Every year he comes up with a banger" were further superb responses to the video which accrued over 3k likes on social media which shows that he certainly is having an effect.
