Andy Murray is 10-0 on grass this year with back-to-back trophies in Surbiton and Nottingham though he's not yet a seed at
Wimbledon even though he's close.
Andy Murray's goal this year was to earn enough points to possibly be a seeded player at Wimbledon and he's pretty close to it. He needed some impressive showings in the weeks leading up to the event to get it done and he certainly had that. A good run in Surbiton where he won the trophy and another good run in Nottingham where he also ended up with the trophy.
Next up is Queen's for him and that's the event where he can ensure that he'll be a seed at Wimbledon. He needs to win at least one match to be in contention but two wins would ensure that he is a seed. It's a tough draw for the Brit as he faces very good Alex de Minaur in the opening round.
Securing a seeding spot
Murray needs to beat both de Minaur and his next opponent to ensure that he's a seed at Wimbledon though even a win against de Minaur would give him a chance. It's a tough one for the Brit as De Minaur likes to play on grass and is pretty good on it:
“It will be a tough first match. He likes the grass and he is someone I had some tough battles with
in the past. Hopefully, I get some rest in tomorrow and get ready for
Tuesday.”
Murray is playing well though and he can certainly get the win, especailly with his eyes on the prize. There is no shortage of confidence after the good run recently:
“It was great to win another tournament. I played some good tennis this week. I felt better than last week in
Surbiton, which is positive. Hopefully I can keep improving over the
next few weeks. The courts were brilliant. The tournament is really well organised. When the result goes well, players tend to be happy.”
