The Qatar Open final is already upon us with two young talents ready to battle it out in a high stakes clash for the coveted title in Doha. World number one Carlos Alcaraz will take on an eye-catching Arthur Fils with it being live around the world for tennis fans to enjoy.
A thrilling week in the Qatar Open has come and gone with some of the best players making their mark. There have been some big names who fell in the early stages, including the likes of Daniil Medvedev and most notably four-time Grand Slam champion Jannik Sinner.
Many would have tipped the Italian to get back on track after his five-set defeat to a phenomenal Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the Australian Open around a month ago but this would not be the case, succumbing to defeat in the last-eight stage to Jakub Mensik. It is just the third player to defeat the world number two, not including retirements, since the start of 2025, with the 20-year-old adding his name to the likes of Alcaraz and Alexander Bublik.
Speaking of which, the Spaniard is looking to continue his flawless 2026 with a second title, and a first in Doha. There were huge doubts surrounding Alcaraz after the story of the off-season was him and his long-term coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, parting ways. It sent shockwaves through the sport with many fans sharing their concerns for him with a rough ride possibly in store.
The complete opposite has occurred, with Alcaraz continuing his fine form. He defeated Djokovic in the final in Melbourne to complete the career Grand Slam and is now hunting for glory in Qatar. He got off with a bang against Arthur Rinderknech before a second Frenchman, Valentin Royer, would also fall in straight sets.
He would get pushed a lot further by Karen Khachanov who swiped away the first set. It took all Alcaraz's class and determination to get back into the match to book a semi-final matchup against the reigning champion Andrey Rublev. He gave it a good go by the seven-time Grand Slam champion book his spot in a 34th ATP final.

It is a fifth for Fils, and the first since the 2024 Tokyo Open final. He already has three ATP titles to his name and has made a name for himself after some brilliant form last year saw him reach a career-high ranking of world number 14. The 21-year-old reached three Masters 1000 quarterfinal stages on the spin, two of which ended to the hands of Alcaraz. A lower back injury worsened at Roland Garros halted his progress and after a failed comeback in the Canadian Open, he has only recently returned to the sport.
Already his impact is there to witness. He has been almost perfect in Qatar, dropping just one set enroute to the final. This was the first one he played against Kamil Majchrzak before he came back to win. Quentin Halys was his next victim before a couple of really commendable performances against Czech duo Jiri Lehecka and Mensik cemented his spot in another ATP final.
