Alex De Minaur produced some brilliant tennis on Friday, dominating Soonwoo Kwon in straight sets to reach the final of the Eastbourne International.
The second seed required just 81 minutes to record the 6-3 7-6(2) victory, ending the South Korean's Cinderella run. The Australian will be looking to win his fifth ATP Tour title and first on grass on Saturday, with all four previously coming on hard courts.
“I am very happy to be playing in another final,” De Minaur said. “I am playing some great tennis on the grass. I am really enjoying myself out there and hopefully I can play well tomorrow and take it home."
Now ranked at a career-high of World No.18, the 23-year old is yet to drop a set this week at Eastbourne. His aggressive play has seen him dictate play from the baseline, with the Aussie finishing off points with exceptional touch at the net.
“I think for me, the clay season is a long stint, so I was looking forward to the grass season," admitted De Minaur. "I have gained confidence from every match I have won, and I have had a lot of matches under my belt. All these things help each other.”
Awaiting him in the final is Lorenzo Sonego, who trails De Minaur 0-1 in head-to-head meetings on the ATP Tour.
