Canadian tennis star Felix Auger-Aliassime recently booked his spot into the quarterfinals of the 2023 Japan Open, defeating Sebastian Ofner to win two consecutive matches for the first time since this year's Indian Wells event.
The former World No.6 recorded a 6-4 6-1 victory over his Austrian opponent, following a difficult first-round win over Australian Aleksandar Vukic. This series of victories saw Auger-Aliassime break a rather embarrassing streak, as the Canadian was yet to win two consecutive matches since Indian Wells in March.

Auger-Aliassime hoping to build off momentum as confidence grows

"I believe in my game. I believe in myself, that I have what it takes to win at this level," said the 23-year old. "I’m happy my level is translating now to the match court after a couple of months. I look forward to the next matches & to build on this good win… I enjoy playing like this. After all, I’m still a young player. I enjoy all these moments. I enjoy playing the way I did today."
After a rather disappointing run spanning the last few months, Auger-Aliassime will look to ride his hot hand as he faces unseeded American Marc Giron in the quarterfinals.
