Australia ended up reaching the semi-finals of the
Davis Cup Finals sealing their tie over Czech Republic last night, but weirdly the topic of Jannik Sinner came up which frustrated
Alex de Minaur.
After levelling the tie for Australia defeating Jiri Lehecka 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-5, De Minaur was left frustrated as a journalist instead asked him about his relationship with the Italian ace who just reached the final of the ATP Finals in Turin.
As expected, he batted away the questioning. De Minaur is known to be a close friend of Sinner, but while he praised him, he said that it is all about Australia for him this week and the questioning should follow the same lines.
Finland were the other country so far to make it through with Canada falling by the wayside. Italy ironically with Sinner and Serbia with Novak Djokovic were the main attractions on Thursday.
"I mean, I feel like every time I talk to you you ask me about Jannik, and look, I really like Jannik. I think he's a great guy. I've got a lot of time for him, and I really enjoy playing doubles with him," De Minaur said.
"Very happy for his success. He's an amazing player, and he's, I'm sure, got a lot more to fulfill in his career. But I'm here. This is Team Australia. We've got the doubles to talk about. So I'll stick with that," he added.
