Grigor Dimitrov completed another stellar comeback win in
Indian Wells and just like Medvedev, Hurkacz too failed to stop the Bulgarian from doing so.
By winning against Hubert Hurkacz, Grigor Dimitrov reached the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open which is his best outing in 2021 so far. The Bulgarian did not have too many great results in 2021 but this week in Indian Wells something clicked. He is able to produce some of the magic he had used when he was ranked No. 3 in the world.
After the match Dimitrov explained what worked for him again:
“I stayed in it. Especially after that first set, it was very hard for me to find my
range today. I was a little bit tired from yesterday and didn’t feel I
really had enough time to rest and push, but I still felt and I knew I
had something in me. I knew that I had to step up and be a little bit
more aggressive."
He further said:
“I started reading his serve a little bit more and I had a few more
looks. I kept trying and believing and I think that made the
difference.”
Dimitrov is showing the best tennis of his 202 1 campaign and the Bulgarian attributed that to being finally healthy and pain-free:
“I am trying to get back to a good rhythm of tennis and living and being pain-free with my body. Waking up and feeling my body is there gives me confidence. I am really enjoying my everyday life.”
