America’s tennis star
Frances Tiafoe has revealed that he approaches
each match with utmost focus.
The 25-year-old is now rated amongst the best men’s singles
players in the country and had a more than impressive outing in the recently
concluded
US Open 2023.
Tiafoe, while talking to the media after the tournament,
stated he tries to give his all in every match. “I just approach each match
with focus,” he said. “I try to give it my all.”
The Maryland-born was knocked out from the fourth and final
Grand Slam of the year after losing the quarterfinal to fellow young American
tennis star Ben Shelton with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2.
It was the second time in his career that Tiafoe managed to
reach the quarterfinal or beyond at the US Open.
He played the semifinal of
the mega-event in New York last year and lost to the current world number two Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set thriller with a score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3.
Overall, Tiafoe will be pleased with his overall performance
in the last 12 months as it was the first time in his career that he ended up
playing in the third round or beyond of each Grand Slam in a single year.
