Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas has admitted that he is at a ‘pivotal moment’ in his career as he is set to defeat his title at the Monte-Carlo Masters. The 26-year-old lifted three of the last four titles at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Last year, he won it for the third time after beating Norway’s Casper Ruud in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
After that performance, not much has gone right for Tsitsipas as he went out of the top-10 in the ATP rankings as well. Things changed for good in the recent past as the Athens-born star player lifted the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship after beating Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3. That performance was enough to get back into the top-10.
Tsitsipas' most recent outing was at the Miami Open, where he was knocked out after losing to America’s Sebastian Korda in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-3. The reigning world number eight has recently been featured in a video published by TNT, where he stated that he feels like he is on the ‘right track’. Tsitsipas also admitted that his career is at a ‘pivotal moment’ and he wants to ‘push’ his limits.
“I wouldn’t call it rebirth,” he said. “It felt like I am on the right track. Rebirth would be a much bigger achievement than that. I don’t know, may be a 1000 Masters or a Grand Slam would be a rebirth. It definitely puts joy back being in the top-10. It happened after Dubai, goes back into the top-10. Now its obviously a pivotal moment. It is the moment where I either put focus on it and add more to it or I kind of laid back down, not react too much. I don’t want to be that guy. I want to go hard at it and want to push my limits.”
