Dominic Thiem played an impressive match to defeat Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets and after the match, he spoke to the media.
An impressive showing from
Dominic Thiem against Felix Auger-Aliassime at the
US Open was great to see but the Austrian said afterwards there were some doubts in his head. He admitted to being very nervous before the match:
"I was really nervous before the match. I knew that I was going to play against an amazing opponent."
Even though he admitted being nervous you could not see it on the court. He played very well from the start especially in the last two sets where Felix won only two games. Speaking about his performance in those last two sets he said:
"The second and third sets were 100 per cent the best sets so far on this overseas trip. I'm starting to find that mixture that I had in Australia, offence and defence, and putting a lot of returns in play. I'll try to bring that form with me to the next round."
His next opponent will be Australian
Alex De Minaur who reached his first
US Open quarterfinal a day earlier. On that match Theim said:
"He's a bit like Felix, absolute superstar [and] up-and-coming. It doesn't matter if the Big Three are here or not. Everybody wants their hands on the trophy."
