Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas has had a rocky start to the 2025 season, and revealed he could use the help of a current ATP rival in his coaching box to help turn things around.
The former World No.3 suffered an opening round loss at last month's Australian Open, falling to rising American star Alex Michelsen in four sets. Tsitsipas would reach the quarterfinals in Rotterdam a few weeks later, but lost to unseeded Italian Mattia Bellucci in straight sets.
The 26-year old is currently playing at the Qatar Open, where he takes on Marseille runner-up Hamad Medjedovic in his opening match. Following the successful collaboration between former foes Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, Tsitsipas was asked to name a current player that he would like to have as his coach.
“Carlos Alcaraz, I would hire him," replied the former Roland Garros runner-up.
Tsitsipas has never defeated his Spanish rival, trailing 0-6 in all their career meetings on tour. The Greek star has lost to Alcaraz in consecutive Roland Garros quarterfinals, as the two have clashed at both the 2023 and 2024 editions. With Alcaraz's success on the Grand Slam stage, perhaps the Spaniard might be bale to impart some of his wisdom onto his Greek colleague.
