Rafael Nadal has been given a replica of his
Roland Garros statue at the French Open after a visit from Gilles Moretton and Amelie Mauresmo representing the FFT.
Nadal is the most successful tennis player of all time at Roland Garros winning the event 14 times with a 112-3 record all-time at the event. Nobody will likely ever be as good as Nadal at that event and that's why he's got a statue there. He received a replica of that statue in Mallorca recently when he was visited by Mauresmo and Moretton on behalf of the French Tennis Federation.
He spoke at the event saying:
“It is a great privilege to welcome you here in my academy. You know how much Roland-Garros and this place mean to me. Having you here is a very special moment, and I can’t
thank you enough for coming, along with some of the staff with whom I am
very close at Roland-Garros. Thank you so much for sending this replica of the big one at Roland-Garros. For me, it is incredible to have my sculpture at Roland-Garros and now I have one here, and that means a lot.”
