Stan Wawrinka recently made his return to tennis after a year-long absence and expectedly it has been a struggle for him.
The Swiss player played a couple of matches, even winning a set but ended up on the losing side every time. Speaking on his comeback, he was honest about being far away from where he wants to be:
"I am far away from the level I want to be. I still need lots of weeks and time on the court and also on the fitness to find the game I need to find. But it’s a good process so far and I am happy to be here."
He further said:
“I love playing tennis. I love playing in front of the fans. I miss the competition, I miss this atmosphere, this feeling when you are nervous but happy at the same time because you are entering a big match a big moment. So that’s one of the reasons why I am coming back.”
Currently, Wawrinka is gearing up for the upcoming Italian Open.
