While Carlos Alcaraz lost out in his Hopman Cup tie against Belgium meaning they have to sweep Croatia, he will soon shift to hard courts with no plans currently to play any European clay.
Alcaraz will look to defend his US Open title starting at the end of August and he admits that is his main focus.
But unlike his rival Novak Djokovic, he will play both Cincinnati and Toronto.
Djokovic dropped a hint earlier in the week that despite being entered into the Canadian Open, he will only play Cincinnati in the run-up to the US Open.
Despite losing to Alcaraz at Wimbledon, Djokovic will likely go in as the favorite to the US Open with the Serbian unable to play in recent years due to a default and then COVID vaccination laws which have just been lifted in May.
"I focus on Toronto. It’s a Masters 1000, a very important tournament. As I’ve always said, I come to every tournament thinking I’m going to win it and believing I can win it. Right now, I’m focusing on Toronto and Cincinnati," said Alcaraz.
"The main goal is the US Open."
