Carlos Alcaraz is in doubt for the
Monte-Carlo Masters are reportedly arriving with discomfort in his right forearm during his opening training session.
Alcaraz had heavy strapping on his right arm and ended his training session early in Monaco as a precaution seemingly. He is making his second appearance in Monte-Carlo having lost in the second round in 2022. Winning seven titles in his career on clay, he opens up against Felix Auger-Aliassime or a qualifier.
With a second round entry, it would give him time realistically to assess the risks and decide whether he is fit enough to play. He is seeded to meet Dubai champion, Ugo Humbert in the third round and Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals.
It has been a superb month or so for Alcaraz who only lost to a fired-up Grigor Dimitrov in Miami and won Indian Wells. He bounced back after a poor South American swing which saw him injured in Rio with an ankle problem. But he soon bounced back.
Known not to be a fan of Monte-Carlo, he has only played it twice in his career if he plays this week and withdrew last year due to physical discomfort. With Madrid and Barcelona in particular coming up, he may decide to withdraw late from proceedings. But no doubt concern is there.
