Novak Djokovic hasn't yet made a decision on a permanent coach, but it could be current temporary addition Nenad Zimonjic who has long been a close ally of the World No.1.
Djokovic has a tendency to look close to home as of late for appointments with Marian Vajda often returning, Goran Ivanisevic being part of the team before taking on a full-time role with only really Becker and Agassi deviating from that. Albeit both were huge names in their own right.
Zimonjic himself carries prestige being a former doubles no.1 and also someone that Djokovic has known for 20 years. He called him an 'older brother, mentor and a friend' as he takes charge of his coaching during the Monte-Carlo Masters.
After splitting with Ivanisevic after six years, Djokovic was mooted to even be searching for a female coach with Judy Murray and Amelie Mauresmo both rumoured. But Zimonjic was a logical choice and one that he decided on. He also could go permanent with him saying talks are planned post Monte-Carlo.
"We have known each other really well for more than 20 years. He's been always like an older brother to me. A mentor, a friend, who always tried to help me as a person and as a player," Djokovic said.
"When I stopped with Goran, I was starting my clay-court preparation in Belgrade and he was there. He came to the court, and we really enjoyed our collaboration and I asked him to come here for a few weeks. We'll see after Monte Carlo what happens next, we'll sit and talk."
"We are trying to make the most of it. He's been giving me really useful advice to find the proper position when I'm approaching the net, and it's something I'm not best at because I don't play as many doubles matches."
