Serena
Williams' former coach
Patrick Mouratoglou opined on
Daniil Medvedev's Grand
Slam win and
Stefanos Tsitsipas' chance of winning a Grand Slam.
The coach has a lot of experience on the tour, in
addition to being
Serena Williams's coach for 10 years (in which the American
won 10 Grand Slams) he has worked with some important names in the
WTA and ATP,
such as
Coco Gauff, Stefanos Tsitsipas,
Simona Halep and
Holger Rune.
Mouratoglou used his Twitter to respond to a user who
commented that it is very difficult for Medvedev and Tsitsipas to win a Grand
Slam by beating
Rafael Nadal and
Novak Djokovic:
In the press conference after the Australian Open
final, the Greek Tsitsipas spoke about the opportunity he had to be No. 1,
since if he had beaten Djokovic that match, he could have reached the top of
the ranking: "I want to
max out in what I do in my profession. No. 1 is on my mind. It doesn't come
easy, I know that,"
The 24-year-old
player is current world No.3, the best ranking of his career, but he closely
follows what Djokovic and
Carlos Alcaraz can do in the next tournaments, since
a good winning streak could lead to it being No. 1 promptly:
"I got to
work harder to make that happen. Today was my opportunity to be a world No. 1.
I had a better opponent on the other side of the net who did things much better
than me. He deserves that spot currently,"
