World number three Carlos Alcaraz has stated that he does not support the lawsuits filed against the tennis governing bodies. The Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) and 22 players have filed the complaint against ATP, WTA, International Tennis Federation (ITF), and International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) on Tuesday on charges of anticompetitive business practices, monopolizing professional tennis, and systemic abuse.

Amongst the list of players who filed the complaint includes the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up, Australia’s Nick Kyrgios, America’s Reilly Opelka, current world number 76 Corentin Moutet and 2014 Wimbledon doubles champion Vasek Pospisil.

According to the report, the players and the PTPA accused the WTA, ATP, ITF, and ITIA of working together as a ‘cartel’ to reduce competition and fix prize money. The report further stated that the suits have been filed in the United Kingdom (UK), European Union, and United States district courts.

Former world number one Alcaraz, who is currently in Miami to play in the ongoing ATP 1000 event, has spoken to the media ahead of his first match, as quoted by BBC Sports, where he stated that he does not agree with the lawsuits filed by the organization backed by Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic and 22 other players. The four-time Grand Slam winner stated that he got to know about the news through the post on social media.

"It was surprising for me, because no one had told me about it," said Alcaraz who will play his first match of the competition on Friday. "There are things I agree with and there are other things I don't agree with. The main thing is I don't support what was done. Yesterday I saw on social media that they put something I said in a press conference in the documents and I wasn't aware of it. I honestly don't support that letter, because I wasn't aware of it.”
