Emma Raducanu has struggled considerably since winning the US Open and it's been hard to watch for John McEnroe.
Raducanu felt the pressure rising leading up to Wimbledon and after losing to early in the event, she fired back at the media who questioned her following the loss. Raducanu dismissed efforts from the media saying she buckled under pressure saying that she has no pressure as she's a grand slam winner.
It's an achievement that has come under scrutiny lately as she is unable to live up to her major-winning level from a year ago. McEnroe can empathise with what she's feeling saying:
"It may be worse for [Emma Raducanu] because she is living it day in, day out. But I am pulling for her. We all are. Maybe she can use that to her advantage somehow."
He furthe added that he believes in her but she neesds to find a good balance for herself:
"No one wins a major if they are not a great player and hopefully she has belief, but a lot has changed for her since then. She is obviously a breath of fresh air. She is a very sweet girl, a beautiful girl and plays great tennis. What’s not to like. It has been hard to watch her struggling, but I don’t know if she needs time. She needs the right stability and people around her."
