Katie Swan grew up with
Emma Raducanu on the Tour and her run at the
US Open was both inspiring and eye-opening to her.
Obviously, she's not the only one as many were amazed by what Raucanu was able to do. She became the first player to ever win a grand slam as a qualifier and she did it by not dropping a single set. Many have raved about what kind of achievement that is and it really is when you think about it. Every time somebody does something for the first time it's special.
Speaking about what her Davis Cup teammate did, Swan said:
"What Emma achieved last year was incredible. The fact that she was able to do that, it really inspired a lot of us and made us believe that something like that was possible."
She continued:
"The grass season always seems to be a time where everyone always enjoys themselves, likes playing in front of a home crowd, and kind of all spurring each other on. We all train together as well, so if you see one of your mates that you train with start doing well in an event, you start to believe if they’re doing it, why can’t I do that as well? It’s like a snowball effect."
The Brit recently debuted in the top 10 for the first time in her career.
