Carlos Alcaraz was well beaten in his quest to get to the final of the
ATP Finals as he lost out to Novak Djokovic and he was full of praise for his rival.
Reaching 400 weeks at World No.1 in short order, Djokovic continues to break records and write history and it is something that drives Alcaraz on to further success despite his humbling loss at the ATP Finals in Turin.
"Mix of motivation and I don't want to think about it" - Alcaraz
He said it is a mix of motivation as well as not wanting to think about the fact that he has reigned so long atop the game and it is an act that he will hope to follow in the coming years.
“Honestly, if I have to think about Novak’s 400 weeks at #1, I have to stay there about 15 years. So it is unbelievable (smiling). Of course, I'm motivated because I want to beat this guy. I want to be the best in history. I want to practice with a goal. I want to beat him. I want to win every tournament that l'm going to play," said Alcaraz.
"But at the same time I will not think about it because it's really, really difficult. It's something that a legend from our sport could achieve. It's unbelievable what he's doing, just breaking records, winning every tournament that he plays. It's crazy.
"It's a mix of motivation & a mix of I don't want to think about it (smiling).
