Britain’s Jack Draper has picked Serbia’s Novak Djokovic as the Greatest player Of All Time (GOAT) in tennis. There has been a constant debate about who is the greatest player in the history of men’s tennis, especially with the original ‘Big Three’ dominating the sport for a good part of two decades.
The list includes former world number one Switzerland’s Roger Federer, Spain’s legendary tennis star Rafael Nadal and Serbia’s Djokovic. Britain’s Draper has been recently quoted in a report, in which he was also asked about the same. The 23-year-old was of the opinion that his heart says it is Nadal but admitted that he agrees with his brain, which tells him that Djokovic is the GOAT player.
"My head says Novak but my heart says Rafa,” he said. “So, my heart is Rafa Nadal. But who do I think is the best tennis player of all time? I know, my head says Novak. My heart is Rafa but for me the GOAT is obviously Novak Djokovic.”
Djokovic is regarded as the most successful player in the history of men’s tennis as he has lifted the Grand Slam 24 times, which is the most by any player. The 2024 season was an interesting one for the Belgrade-born, who failed to win a single major title. It was the first time in seven years that the former world number one failed to achieve such a milestone in a calendar year. Not only that he also failed to win any ATP event in 2024.
However, Djokovic will remember the 2024 season for all the right reasons, and it became the year in which he managed to complete his trophy cabinet. The 37-year-old finally managed to win a gold medal for his country in the Olympics in Paris as he defeated reigning world number three Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the singles category event in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
