Jack Draper won't play at the Shanghai Masters over the next week with the British No.1 withdrawing from the tournament after sustaining an injury against Ugo Humbert at the Japan Open.
With many of the top names going out early, Draper who also saw off Hubert Hurkacz earlier in the week had a big opportunity to potentially win another title.
But the Brit who has often battled with injury over recent years and has blighted his progress finally got a run together. He reached the semi-finals of the 2024 US Open and was only narrowly defeated by Jannik Sinner.
He reached a new career high and seemed to be in the ascendancy but on his return to the court aside from Davis Cup which he took part in, it is very much been the continuation but also now back to the Draper of before.
He suffered an abdominal injury in his loss yesterday to Humbert and now will miss a vital tournament in his hopes of rising the rankings further. He will now hope to be back for the indoor season towards Paris.
