Having been a participant at previous editions of the
Laver Cup,
Jack Sock is pleased to be a member of Team World this year, even though he is coming in as an alternate.
The former World No.8, who is now ranked 164th in the world, was offered the spot as alternate for Team World and said he jumped at the opportunity as he loved the annual event.
"I'm injury free. Obviously I had an unfortunate way to go out of the US Open a few weeks ago," said Sock. "I'm playing great tennis, I love this event, whatever role I'm in I cherish this whole week. I've had my chance to play and be on the court."
The American has an 8-4 record at the event, with his versatility enabling him to participate in both singles and doubles matches. He holds a 7-2 record in doubles, and has amassed the most points for Team World across three editions of the Laver Cup. However, Sock remained humble when asked to be an alternate this year.
"To be the alternate and kind of a practice guy this week... Honestly it's a blast for me," revealed the 28-year old. "Just being here with these guys, I like all of these guys a ton, just to be in this atmosphere, it was an easy decision for me to come and be a part of the team in any way I could,"
