The season's first Masters 1000 event starts on March 24 in Mami, gathering a strong field of players who will chase a notable trophy and 1000 ATP points.
The two-time champion Andy Murray has received a wild card alongside the young guns Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Draper, Hugo Gaston and Michael Mmoh, returning to Florida for the first time since 2016!
Andy became a father for the fourth time a couple of days ago and missed the Dubai Open to stay with his family ahead of the Miami trip. The Miami Open tournament director James Blake said he is excited to see Andy back at this event, praising his hard work after numerous injuries.
Murray has won 28 matches in Miami so far, making a debut 15 years ago and reaching the semi-final already in 2007. The Briton claimed his two Miami crowns in 2009 and 2013 following victories over Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer. Djokovic defeated Murray in Miami in 2014 and 2015, and Andy's last match in Florida came against Grigor Dimitrov in the third round in 2016.
"It is exciting to see Andy back in Miami. As someone who has had to battle back from injury during his career, I understand and respect all the hard work Andy has put in to get back on tour," James Blake said.
