With the Olympic Games only a few months away, Jannik Sinner has closed down the gap between himself and Novak Djokovic as the race for the Olympics heats up.
The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris, France this summer, with the tennis event scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 27. The top 56 players in the ATP Rankings as of June 10, 2024 will be automatically entered into the singles event, as long as they pass the ITF eligibility criteria.
Players began accumulating points for the Olympics last summer, with World No.1 Djokovic leading the race due to his dominant performance in the second half of 2023. The Serbian won titles in Cincinnati, the US Open, the Paris Masters, and the ATP Finals to overtake Carlos Alcaraz. However, Djokovic has accrued 7,360 points, but is yet to compete on tour since his semifinal exit at the 2024 Australian Open.
Conversely, Sinner has compiled 6,725 points, rising to second place after his title runs in Melbourne and the recent Rotterdam Open. Alcaraz is third on the list, with Russian Daniil Medvedev rounding out the top 4 in the race to the Olympics. Below is the full Olympic race ranking table, as of February 19, 2024.
