Statistics aplenty for
Jannik Sinner after another heroic win over Novak Djokovic, this time at the
Davis Cup to anchor his country towards the final where they will play Australia on Sunday.
Sinner is only the fourth man to defeat Novak Djokovic in consecutive weeks after also defeating him and also losing to him during the ATP Finals. He exacted his revenge as he saved three successive match points against him.
In the process, he became the first player to save these amounts of championship points against the Serbian ace and still pull a win out of the bag.
He has also made history as the only active ATP player not named Novak (Djokovic) or Rafael (Nadal) to achieve 10+ wins versus top five players in the same season with 10 in all for the Italian ace.
An incredible season continues for Sinner who went on to win the doubles with Lorenzo Sonego and technically handed Djokovic another defeat as he teamed with Miomir Kecmanovic. A title winning one perhaps too with Italy being favourites to down Australia later today and could be the icing on the cake of a superb 2023 especially after getting so close in Turin.
