Jannik Sinner is the best player in the world right now, but with a caveat admits Martina Navratilova after the Italian thrashed Grigor Dimitrov to claim the 2024 Miami Open and improve his epic year further after winning the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open. It is his second ATP 1000 title after winning the Canadian Open.
But Navratilova still sees Novak Djokovic as the best when they are all on an equal playing field. Albeit that didn't take away from his 6-3, 6-1 win over Dimitrov with Navratilova calling him the most consistent and that his average display is better than anyone else's so he does have cause to be called the best right now albeit without the World No.1 at top form or playing all that often.
“Well, Novak Djokovic is not playing unfortunately for us. Yes, he’s [Sinner] been the most consistent and his average today is better than everybody else’s average at the moment. He’s taken it to a whole new level," Navratilova said on Tennis Channel.
"So it gives him a lot of peace of mind because he knows he doesn’t have to play out of his socks. He does not have to redline anything to win matches, the other guys are the ones that have to redline. So that gives you a lot of confidence."
