Jannik Sinner added another title to his growing list of achievements by winning the 2025
Vienna Open, defeating
Alexander Zverev 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in a well-fought final. The Italian se llevó su 4th titulo de la temporada – en 8 finales - showing his trademark focus and determination to come from a set down and secure victory in just over two hours.
The Italian faced physical problems during the second part of the match, but managed to emerge victorious against Zverev, in what was the first time they had met since the Australian Open final at the beginning of the year. After the match, Sinner delivered a composed speech, thanking the presence of his family and his girlfriend, confirming his relationship with model Laila Hasanovic.
Sinner began his speech by congratulating Alexander Zverev, acknowledging the German’s difficult year marked by injuries. “Sascha, I know this year has been very difficult for you with a few injuries, but you’ve done brilliantly well this week,” Sinner said. “You’ve had a fantastic week, given where you were earlier in the year.” His words reflected mutual respect between two players who have faced each other several times in key matches on tour.
While he praised Zverev for his performance, Sinner also took time to recognise the people closest to him, including his girlfriend, que estaba entre el público junto a los padres de Sinner. The moment came during a thoughtful address in which Sinner thanked everyone who contributed to his success in Vienna. “To everyone here — my family, my girlfriend, my friends, and my whole team watching from home — thank you so much for your support,” he said, before moving on to thank his coaches and the tournament organisers.
A thoughtful message to his team and supporters
Turning to his own camp, Sinner spoke directly to his team, switching to English “because of Darren and the rest of the team.” He thanked them for their continuous effort and commitment: “Thank you so much for your support, the work you put in, and the effort to understand me. At times it’s not easy, but I really appreciate it.” The mention of his team highlighted the strong structure surrounding him, with coach Darren Cahill and the rest of his staff.
Cahill is currently living his final tournaments alongside Sinner, following the announcement that the two will part ways at the end of the year. The decision came from the Australian coach, who wishes to spend more time with his family after decades of travelling around the world.
Sinner then extended his gratitude to the Vienna Open organisers and the fans, who once again filled the Wiener Stadthalle in large numbers. “Thank you so much for your organisation and support during this fabulous week here in Vienna. It’s always such a pleasure to come here and play again,” he said, before addressing the spectators directly: “Thank you so much for all your support and for coming in such great numbers. It’s been such a special week, and it’s always one of the highlights of my calendar to come here and play in Vienna.”
The crowd responded warmly, appreciating the straightforward and respectful tone of Sinner’s remarks. Known for his professionalism on and off the court, the Italian continues to combine competitiveness with composure — qualities that have helped him stay consistent as the world’s top-ranked player.
The four-time Grand Slam champion will now have to prepare for his next challenge at the Paris Masters — a tournament that begins this Monday and will also feature Germany’s Alexander Zverev, the defending champion. It will be the final event for both players before they travel to Turin for the ATP Finals.
