Fans on social media raised different concerns after Novak Djokovicโ€™s poor performance in the Rome Open. The 36-year-old suffered a shocking exit from the mega-event after losing to Chileโ€™s Alejandro Tabilo in the round of 32 in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-3 on Sunday.
After the match, Djokovic, while talking to the media, stated that he is not sure whether the bottle-hitting incident a few days back was the primary reason for his poor outing on the court. โ€œI don't know, to be honest,โ€ he said. โ€œI have to check that. Training was different. I was going for kind of easy training yesterday. I didn't feel anything, but I also didn't feel the same. Today under high stress, it was quite bad - not in terms of pain, but in terms of this balance. Just no coordination. Completely different player from what it was two nights ago. Could be. I don't know. I have to do medical checkups and see what's going on.โ€
That performance raised concerns of the fans on social media. "This should tell you Djokovic is finished, Sinner, Alcaraz and probably Rune will win Rolland Garros,โ€ one fan wrote. On the other hand, another fan questioned how there was no concussion protocol followed after the incident. โ€œYou mean to to tell me he was never evaluated for concussion!?!? How TF is this possible??? Concussion was OBVIOUSLY the #1 concern to begin with given nausea & headaches that were reported. Who the hell is advising him? Jesus Christ man!,โ€ he wrote.
