World number two
Aryna Sabalenka enjoyed a
Rafael Nadal-like
moment during the Rome Open. The 26-year-old is often regarded as one of the
best players currently playing in the women’s singles category along with Poland’s
Iga Swiatek.
Sabalenka is currently taking part in the Rome Open where
she enjoyed a rare moment interacting with the fans, similar to what was
enjoyed by Spain’s legendary tennis star Rafael Nadal. The Minsk-born was seen
making a video of the fans cheering for her as she walked on the pedestrian. In
a video that was posted a few days back, Nadal was seen walking on the same pedestrian
as the fans in hundreds cheered after seeing the legendary tennis star, probably
for the final time in Rome.
Sabalenka, who came into the competition after having an
impressive outing in the recently concluded Madrid Open where she finished as
the runner-up after losing to Swiatek in a hard-fought final, is having a
decent time on the court in Rome as well as she has already booked her place in
the round of 16 after beating Dayana Yastremska in straight sets in the third round
with a score of 6-4, 6-2. She is now set to face Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in
the fourth-round tie on Monday.
