Djokovic d. Rublev ....Lukewarm take: in the absence of Nadal and Federer, ND's new motivation is showing the kids (and booing fans) he's still got it.
Tennis analyst Jon Wertheim believes that the current world number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is now showing the young players and the fans that he is still the best in business.
The 36-year-old defeated Denmark’s is currently taking part in the Paris Masters where he has already registered his place in the final of the competition after defeating Russia’s Andrey Rublev in the last-four clash with a score of 5-7, 7-6, 7-5 on Saturday.
Wertheim, in a post on his official account on social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — gave his point of view that Djokovic’s primary motivation now is to show the young players as well as the booing fans that he still has what it takes to be successful at the highest level.
The Belgrade-born will now face Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in the final of the competition on Sunday.
It will be the 13th time when both players will face off on the tennis court. In the previous 12 meetings, Djokovic has a far superior record where he went on to win 11 times and just suffered a solitary defeat in the process.
Their previous meeting was in the round of 32 in Rome earlier this year where the current world number one came out on top with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
