Aslan Karatsev is currently playing in the semi-finals of the Madrid Open and a familiar figure is alongside him in the coaching box.
That of Yahor Yatsyk with Karatsev, Basilashvili in conjunction with Yatsyk being accused of being involved in
match fixing last year.
Through an investigation with Jannik Schneider, a journalist who at the time was working for ZDF, he ascertained that Yatsyk offered players money to match fix with two matches from Karatsev being flagged up.
He is working again though with Karatsev with Schneider pointing out that fact and sharing the documents from the 2018 hearing that his initial investigation was based on.
As part of that, it states that Karim Hossam was offered $3,000 at a future and $5,000 against Richard Gasquet, with the former being declined but not reported and the same with the latter.
But another two breaches came in doubles matches in a second charge which he accepted both to throw sets in the tie.
Schneider's opinion is that while Karatsev is not involved that it is inappropriate that a coach of this nature is still involved in 2023.
