Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies have won the Roland Garros ATP Doubles championship by defeating Bruno Soares and Mate Pavic in the final.
The Germans have been playing stellar tennis at this years Roland Garros won the match after 90 minutes of play with 6-3 7-5. The first set was highlighted by pretty good play from both pairs as neither faced any issues while serving. The only time Soares and Pavic had any issues was the time they surrendered their serve midway through the first set. Those were the only break points either of the pairs faced in the whole set.
The 2nd set was much more exciting as we saw even better play from the pair with increased aggressiveness. Mies and Krawietz almost broke Soares and Pavic early in the 2nd set but they failed to convey it. Then a few games later they almost got broken themselves as Soares and Pavic had 3 consecutive break points but could not convey either of them. The rest of the set was rather calm as both pairs composed themselves and held their servers easily.
The key moment came late in the set when Krawietz and Mies fought hard in the game where they finally broke through the defence of Pavic and Soares. They took the 6-5 lead but it wasn't over yet. In the next game, they had to save a breakpoint before they earned themselves match points. They failed to convey the first one but successfully conveyed the 2nd one to win 6-3 7-5.
