Angelique Kerber completed a majestic comeback late in the match to win against Petra Kvitova.
The Czech player played a very good match but she collapsed late to give Kerber the 3-6 6-3 7-6(3) win. Angelique Keber found herself in a hopeless situation late in the match being down 5-6 in the set with Kvitova serving. Both of them played their quarterfinal matches earlier today due to the rain but Kerber's match ended later.
The German also went three sets and that showed late in the match. Kvitova was better early on dominating rallies on his own serve. On Kerber's serve she applied enough pressure getting a break midway through the set. She won the set with 6-3. The 2nd set was an interesting one that opened with 3 consecutive breaks.
By the end of it, Kvitova was a break-up and leading 3-1. However, Kerber found some inspiring energy to pull back the break and adding a break late in the set to win the set 6-4. An amazing comeback by Kerber in that set to force a 3rd. The German could not carry the momentum into the 3rd set as she found herself down 0-2 early.
She would however battle back to make it 3-3 but once again lost her serve to make it 4-3 for Kvitova. Kvitova failed to confirm the break and we were tied at 4-4. The Czech player broker Kerber at 5-5 to take a 6-5 lead but once again failed to take advantage of it.
In the end, the German forced the tiebreak where Kvitova collapsed losing it 3-7. Great result for the German getting to the final on native soil.
