Nick Kyrgios has been fined a total of $25,000 for incidents during his BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells defeat to Rafael Nadal in a game which stole the headlines for the quality of the tie as well as what came with it

In a hot topic at the moment due to Jenson Brooksby being the latest player to commit a similar offence, Kyrgios smashed his racquet and it almost hit a ball kid.

While he found the ball kid and apologised for the incident and gave him a racquet to keep, he has been fined $20,000 for that.

As well as for audible obscenity, a further $5,000 has been tagged on by the ATP with no suspension issued.

It is sad that such a talented player with so much potential chooses to let his poor character hinder him from being the great player everyone knows he can be. Kyrgios is his own worse enemy.
