Alexander Zverev gave an interview recently where he chose Djokovic, Medvedev, and himself as players that will most likely dominate in 2022.
Stefanos Tsitsipas might have a word in that as the Greek established himself firmly as the 3rd best player in the world for the better part of the 2021 season. The Greek was spectacular during the clay stretch earlier in the year but fell off as the season moved to the hard courts. Injuries have also played a part in his drop-off but when asked about Zverev's comments Tsitsipas gave a brief response.
Unwilling to get dragged into any sort of back and forth he simply said:
"Let tennis do the talking."
It's a fair thing to say from Tsitsipas who clearly sees himself as one of the best in the world but he would not admit to it publicly. Ultimately tennis will do the talking and we will know by who has a better year. So far Zverev has looked sharper as he is healthy compared to Tsitsipas who is coming off of tricky elbow surgery. After all, elbows are notoriously slow to heal and Tsitsipas admitted he still feels a bit of pain:
"I'm in a little bit of pain. That's normal. I served more serves than I have ever served at the last one month."
