Russia’s tennis star
Andrey Rublev hilariously challenged the
chair umpire to have a bet after a double bounce incident at the
Vienna Open.
The 26-year-old is currently taking part in the competition
where he has already booked his place in the quarterfinal after beating Italy’s
Matteo Arnaldi in the round of 16 clash in straight sets with a score of 7-5,
6-3.
In the fourth game of the second set, Rublev ended up challenging
the chair umpire’s call about the double bounce.
The world number five was sure that he returned the shot in
time but the chair umpire did not agree with his assessment.
To counter that, Rublev, in a rather hilarious manner, challenged
the umpire to have a bet to see who got it right.
The Moscow-born is now set to face off against Germany’s Alexander
Zverev in the last-eight clash of the tournament on Friday.
It will be the eighth time when both players will meet on
the tennis court at the highest level.
It is Zverev who has a clear edge in this rivalry as he has
won on five occasions and suffered just two defeats in the process.
However, in the last meeting
between the two, it was Rublev who came out on top with a score of 6-2, 6-3.
