With the emergence of the Carota Boys, comparisons have been made between the fan bases of
Jannik Sinner and
Novak Djokovic. But not so fast as the latter have rubbished the notion that the legendary Serbian's fan base is even close to that of the rising Italian.
Sinner though will count on superb support this next week in Turin at the ATP Finals due to being in his home country. Ahead of his opener against Stefanos Tsitsipas, a journalist commented that the Italian enjoys a better fan following than Djokovic.
This remark did not sit well, with Djokovic's fans saying that just because they don't wear costumes does not mean the fans aren't there and that his fan base is 'the biggest of them all'.
"Lol! Am not even surprised by tennis journos these days, bunch of ignorant guys with a mic. Just because Novak's fanclub doesn't wear carrot costumes or maybe Joker costumes everywhere doesn't mean it's not there. Novak's fanclub is the biggest of them all," one fan wrote.
Another believes there is an obsession with Djokovic. "Hahah Novak lives in many pathetic heads rent-free.. But I understand, they need to attract attention by using Nole's name otherwise no one would care," the fan tweeted.
"Was it really necessary to put down Novak cause that's a total lie that he doesn't have fans like that? Terrible journalist," another user wrote. Some also opining that even Sinner was taken aback by the remark.
