Stefanos
Tsitsipas mocked former tennis players
Andy Roddick and
Monica Puig after
posting a tweet reflecting on the round shape of pizza, which is unusually
packed in a square box and eaten in triangular slices:
"We
put round pizza in a square box and eat it in triangles," Tsitsipas wrote
on X (formerly Twitter).
Former
world No. 1 Andy Roddick and former Olympics Golden medalist Monica Puig came
across the tweet while covering the
Miami Open for Tennis Channel. Steve
Weissman asked Roddick to share his thoughts on Tsitsipas' reflection.
"Not
something that I've ever really put much time into thinking about. Umm, it all
ends up in the stomach, it doesn't really matter how he gets there," Andy
Roddick replied.
On the
other hand, Monica Puig added to the discussion that there are restaurants that
serve pizza slices in square shapes, while Roddick sarcastically mentioned that
they deserve an Emmy award for the discussion:
"What
about the places that do cut up the pizza into square slices? Very
philosophical but I have my question marks," Puig said.
"I'm a
New York-style guy... and I say this every once in a while, Steve. I will be
stunned if we don't win an Emmy for this segment," Andy Roddick said.
On the
other hand, Monica Puig contributed to the conversation by mentioning that
there are restaurants that serve pizza slices in square shapes, while Roddick
sarcastically suggested that their discussion was worthy of an Emmy award:
"Looks
like someone's trying to solve the Bermuda Triangle mystery. One pizza slice at
a time guys,"
Stefanos Tsitsipas wrote.
