Lucky loser Struff battles past Cachin to reach Madrid Open Quarter-Finals

Another Masters 1000 tournament, another Quarter-Final for Jan-Lennard Struff who continues his surge back up the rankings also at the Madrid Open.

Struff took down Pedro Cachin in a three-set affair on Tuesday evening to continue his run as a lucky loser and also join Daniel Altmaier in the Quarter-Finals too.

It was a 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (7-9), 6-3 win for Struff. He was 100th in the world three weeks ago and the 33-year-old German now ensures that he will return to the top 50 next week.

Despite initially losing in qualifying, he is a player very much on form heading further into the clay-court swing evidenced again this evening.
