Rick Macci
predicts that Naomi Osaka will return to the top 10 in 2024.
Former
coach of Serena Williams, Rick Macci, has confidence in what Japanese player
Naomi Osaka can achieve in 2024. Macci shared his opinion on the future of the
4-time Grand Slam champion on his social media.
Osaka had a
challenging 2022 season, failing to achieve the same level of success that led
her to become world No. 1 for 25 weeks in 2019. Although she reached the final
of the WTA Miami Open, she took a break due to her mental health after being
eliminated in the first round of the 2022 French Open by Amanda Anisimova.
In 2023,
Osaka is taking time away from the courts as she announced her pregnancy.
However, she has expressed her intention to return to the WTA tour in 2024, and
Macci believes she has the potential to make a strong comeback and regain her
place among the top players in the world of tennis.
"Naomi
Osaka next year will 100% skyrocket back into the top ten. You do not lose the
talent the laser groundies or that explosive serve to play right thru the field,”
Macci wrote on his Twitter account.
“Fitness
and overall confidence takes time but with Four Slams in her back pocket she
has been there done that," he added.
On the
other hand, the 25-year-old tennis player recently wrote a message on social
media addressing those who criticize her or believe that her career is over.
“Btw to the
people that are suddenly concerned about my career- There are plenty of male athletes
with kids that are significantly less accomplished, you might wanna worry about
them instead. Thanks for the concern, might wanna redirect it to someone that
needs it though."
