The BNP Paribas Open also known as Indian Wells was cancelled yesterday in wake of the Coronavirus outbreak and one player in particular was not best pleased about losing out on money, that was Nicolas Mahut.
Mahut said that he has gained a consensus from people involved on the players council was that they should receive the money; they would have got in the first round in Indian Wells.
"I just spoke to people on the players council, all the players should receive the first round money," Mahut told L'Equipe, as revealed by We Love Tennis France.
"We are very disappointed that the tournament will not take place; but the health and safety of the local community; fans, players, volunteers; sponsors, employees, vendors, and everyone involved with the event is of paramount importance,” Tournament Director Tommy Haas said in a statement.
Haas offered a potential solution to this: “We are prepared to hold the tournament on another date and will explore options."
