MATCH REPORT | 2023 ATP Finals: Carlos ALCARAZ beats Daniil MEDVEDEV in superb straight sets win, sets DJOKOVIC clash

Carlos Alcaraz has managed to seal his qualification for the semifinals of the ATP Finals 2023. The Spaniard defeated Daniil Medvedev, who was already qualified, in two sets (6-4, 6-4), and will face Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the tournament for a place in the grand final.
In the first set, the first moment of tension came with 1-2 in favor of Medvedev, when the Russian had two break points to take the lead. However, Alcaraz managed to save both and maintain the tie. At 3-3, the Spaniard would be the first to get a break, and also in white, and would get an advantage that he would keep until the end of the set, which would be won by the world number 2 by 6-4.
At this point, if Carlos Alcaraz managed to win the match in two sets, he would face Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, but if he did it in three he would have to wait for the result of tonight's match between Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev to see if he would go through as first or second. Either way, there was still a lot to fight for to get the win.
At the beginning of the second set, with 1-1, Alcaraz would have two break opportunities, but Medvedev would save them without many complications. At 4-3 for the Russian, the Spaniard would manage to win a game in which both played a very high level of tennis, with Alcaraz giving a loud shout of celebration after taking it to 4-4.
That game was to be a mental turning point for Carlos Alcaraz, who would then get the most important break to take a 5-4 lead and serve to win the match and seal his qualification to the semifinals. The Spaniard was not going to fail, and will fight against Novak Djokovic for a place in the final, a tremendous duel!
