Daniil
Medvedev crosses $30 million mark in prize money earnings
Former
world No. 1 Medvedev has had a strong start to the year. After his third-round
defeat at the Australian Open against Sebastian Korda, the Russian found his
best form and won three consecutive tournaments before the "sunshine
double." In the United States, he reached the final of Indian Wells and
won the title at the Miami Open, with a record of 29-3 in 2023, placing him at
the top of the race to the ATP Finals.
His
impressive start to the year has already earned him $3.4 million in just three
and a half months, pushing his total prize money earnings past the $30 million
mark. Only eleven players in history have achieved this milestone on the court,
with seven of them still actively playing.
The top
three spots are occupied by the "big-3," led by Novak Djokovic,
Rafael Nadal, and
Roger Federer, all with earnings surpassing $130 million. The
list also includes retired players Pete Sampras,
David Ferrer, and Andre
Agassi. Other active players who are still ahead of Medvedev in terms of
earnings are
Andy Murray,
Stan Wawrinka,
Alexander Zverev, and
Marin Cilic.
Medvedev is
currently about $120,000 away from surpassing Agassi's earnings and could
potentially achieve this milestone at the upcoming Madrid Open, if he reaches
at least the quarter-finals of the tournament.
