Canadian Open will have some local representation to delight the home fans, as Canadians
Milos Raonic and
Denis Shapovalov have been given wildcard entries to the tournament.
An ATP Masters 1000 event, the main draw of the Canadian Open will run from August 6-12, 2024. One of the most prestigious events during the North American summer hardcourt season, the tournament has a rich history of champions ranging from Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to Andy Murray and 2023 champion Jannik Sinner.
Wildcards revealed for Canadian Open
The tournament organizers released a list of wildcard entries for the event, with several Canadians granted entry. Former World No.3 Milos Raonic was handed a wildcard entry, as the 33-year old has slowly been working his way back into form after a long injury hiatus.
Denis Shapovalov was also given a wildcard entry to his home tournament, and he will be joined by Canadian veteran
Vasek Pospisil and doubles specialist Gabriel Diallo. In addition to the main draw wildcard entrants, the organizers gave out wildcard entries to players participating in the qualifying event. Alexis Galarneau, Liam Draxl, Taha Baadi and Justin Boulais were all given wildcard entries, allowing them an opportunity to compete for a spot in the main draw.
