Novak Djokovic not only recorded a record extending eighth year end No.1 finish, but has also continued breaking records into the close season. With 402 weeks, he now has more than 100 career weeks at No.1 on the
ATP Rankings.
This is more than all other active players combined. Rafael Nadal sits second with 209 weeks atop the World No.1 spot with Andy Murray well adrift with 41 weeks at the top of the rankings. Carlos Alcaraz (36) and Daniil Medvedev (16) are next up among the current active players still on the tour.
Of course this does not take into account players who are no longer active on the tour such as Roger Federer, but shows the strangle hold that he has long had atop the rankings.
Adding Nadal's 209, Murray's 41, Alcaraz's 36 and Medvedev's 16, it totals 302 which is now a 100 week gap behind Djokovic and even in year end finishes, he is in a league of his own with eight compared to the six of Pete Sampras and the five of Jimmy Connors. The next record, the latter's 109 ATP titles and the Calendar Grand Slam.
