Patrick Mouratoglou knows tennis and the famous tennis coach picked Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Zverev for a major breakthrough on Grand Slams in 2022.
The next season will be a very interesting one as many players will be up for the challenge of winning a grand slam. Hopefully, the big 3 will be healthy and competing and the next-gen players should be better and more experience as well. Daniil Medvedev showcased it's possible and many will fancy their chances.
For Patrick Mouratoglou several names stand out. He pointed to Medvedev who has already done it, he pointed to Alexander Zverev who is primed for a grand slam win and he pointed to a player ho part-time coaches in Stefanos Tsitsipas.
He used the example of Roland Garros saying:
"When Roland Garros starts the only thing you don’t know is who Rafa is going to beat in the final. Now it’s a different story. Stefanos is one of the guys who can do it, win Grand Slams, and become number one. Medvedev and Zverev too."
Tsitsipas came fairly close at Roland Garros having a 2-0 lead against Novak Djokovic before getting beaten. Matteo Berrettini played in the Wimbledon final and Daniil Medvedev played in the Australian Open final before winning the US Open. Each final featured a next-gen player and Mouratoglou believes next year will feature them winning more than one grand slam.
