The
US Open is only days away and the first round will bring us some popcorn matches that you should not miss.
Every time a grand slam comes around we get several high-profile 1st round matches between players that realistically should not play each other so early. The 2021 US Open is no exception and down below you can see all the matches that you should not miss.
The first one of those matches is between
Stefanos Tsitsipas and
Andy Murray. Tsitsipas has shown a solid level of tennis before the US Open however the Greek is still not there in terms of level to challenge for the event. Neither is Murray who is battling every week but fails to produce high levels of tennis consistently. Either way, this is one not to miss.
Nick Kyrgios will have fitness question marks heading into his 1st round match against Roberto Bautista Agut. The Australian has not played consistently since Wimbledon citing several injuries and it remains to be seen how healthy is. His opponent is completely out of form and Agut has not had a noticeable result for the majority of 2021.
Alexander Zverev is currently riding a hot streak dating back to the Tokyo Olympics and the German will look to extend that against Sam Querrey. The best days of Querrey are behind him but the big-serving American is always dangerous for an upset.
Cameron Norrie has been one of the best performing players in 2021 overall with the British player excelling on clay especially.
Carlos Alcaraz did the same and the young Spanish player seems like a great one in the making. If he can upset Norrie he would cement that opinion about himself.
